Our Next Affordable Housing Orientation is Nov. 16th!

Interested in partnering with Skagit Habitat for Humanity to build and buy your own home? Learn more about our Homebuyer Program on Saturday, November 16th at 11am at our Affordable Housing Orientation! Hosted at the Anacortes Senior Activity Center (1701 22nd St), we’ll discuss more about the program requirements, expectations, and application process. This is the first step in your journey towards affordable homeownership!

We are so excited to begin building eight more affordable homes in Anacortes! Located off 29th Street in Anacortes, these two-story duplexes will provide eight more local families with a safe, secure place to call home. Each 1,048sf unit will have 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths and share a wall with an adjacent unit.

Selected families will become active partners with Skagit Habitat for Humanity by helping build and buy their own homes. Once construction is complete, families will sign an affordable mortgage that’s no more than 33% of their gross family income.

This is a great opportunity for hardworking families who may feel that homeownership is out of reach!

Application Process: How Does it Work?

On November 16th, we’ll go into more detail about the Homebuyer Program requirements and expectations. Skagit Habitat for Humanity is targeting local families earning between 70-80% of the County’s AMI. (Click here to view our income guidelines.)

In addition, applicants must meet specific requirements based on:

Demonstrated need for affordable housing;

Willingness to partner with Skagit Habitat and complete 150 volunteer hours with the organization; and

Ability to repay a mortgage set at 33% of your family’s gross income.

At the Affordable Housing Orientation, physical applications will be readily available. If you cannot make the meeting, applications will be available online starting Monday, November 18th . Completed applications with all required documents are due Monday, December 2nd at 3pm. Please see the application checklist for more information on how to turn in your application.
