2025 Will Be Big.

2024 was a historic year for Skagit Habitat for Humanity! We surpassed our average pace of building one and a half homes each year to four homes in 2024. The momentum keeps going, fueling our ambitious plans to build eleven homes in 2025, nearly triple the amount in 2024.

Where will these homes be and what else can you expect from Skagit Habitat in 2025? Read on to find out and how YOU can be a part of tripling our impact in Skagit County.

Caledonia Cottages

Phase 1:

We are thrilled to start construction on Caledonia Cottages on the corner of S. 3rd St. And Caledonia in La Conner in 2025! Three families have been selected to build and buy these homes: Steven & Steffanie, Tarra, and Rocio. Construction is set to begin in February on the three thoughtfully designed homes. Two homes will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms consisting of 1,380 sq ft. The third home will be a cozy 1,080 sq ft with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Recognizing the site’s location within a flood zone, these homes will incorporate essential safety measures, like raised foundations, to provide families piece of mind and long-term protection.

Phase 2:

After the three cottage-style homes are completed, we will begin construction on three smaller homes. These cozy homes will be the perfect opportunity for singles and couples to achieve their goals to become homeowners through our Homebuyer Program. We don’t have an expected date for construction to start, but are excited to offer our services to many different family sizes on this La Conner construction site.

Parkside Cottages

Construction is already underway on our eight home construction project in Anacortes. Located off 29th Street, across from John Storvik Park, these two-story duplexes will be 1,048 square feet, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. These homes will provide a strength, stability, and self-reliance for smaller families, couples, and individuals.

These homes were originally started by another builder but were left unfinished due to unforeseen challenges. Skagit Habitat then acquired the existing structures and land. This paves the way for eight affordable homeownership opportunities in Anacortes.

Skagit Habitat Store

Since it’s opening in 2009, the Skagit Habitat Store has remained a huge part of our organization. It is our largest and most consistent source of funding. Every purchase you make, item you donate, and hour you volunteer directly contributes to building a stronger Skagit County and empowering families on their journey to homeownership. With 2024 being one of the Store’s most successful years in business, we’re thrilled to see what we accomplish together in 2025.

Have You Seen This Shed?

To further highlight the impact of the Skagit Habitat Store, we’re excited to create a shed, showcasing the transformative power of the Store. Thanks for volunteers, Nate and Paul, this shed will serve as a visual representation of the impact it has on our community. Featuring a captivating mural, realistic exterior walls, and a framed picture of every home we’ve built since 1996, it will be a visual celebration and testament to the impact we’ve made so far!

In 2025, keep shopping, donating, and volunteering and know that your participation helps build a stronger Skagit County.
